One of the most useful seminars at PhotoPlus Expo this year was the “Your Roadmap To Success” presentation by Judy Hermann. Judy is a past president of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), served as an Olympus Visionary for 10 years and was awarded the United Nations International Photographic Council’s Leadership Award for her work as an educator and industry advocate.

CEPIC has announced that its 2016 Congress will be held in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, beginning May 25th thru the 27th, 2016. This annual event brings together stock photo distributors from all over the world. The 2015 event was held in Warsaw, Poland and attended by over 400 people from 32 countries representing all aspects of the picture industry -- stock and press agencies, cultural heritage, video vendors and producers as well as crowdsourcing and microstock companies.

One of the most interesting panels at the Digital Media Licensing Association (DMLA formerly known as PACA) annual conference in New York this week was on “Opening New Markets Through Image Embedding.” Back in March Getty Images launched its Image Embed Tool and made 35 million images available for free embedding on social media sites. That number has now jumped to about 50 million.

Every year CEPIC brings together picture agencies from all over the world and becomes, for a few days, the Center of the Picture Industry. This year's Congress had over 500 participants from 35 countries and 280 agencies. It was held in the heart of Berlin, a few blocks away from the Brandenburger Tor.

I just returned from my first HOW Design Live conference, this year in Boston. HOW Design Live is billed as “the biggest annual gathering of creative professionals, anywhere.” This year over 3,300 professional buyers of photography from all over the U.S. and Canada made their way to Boston for the five-day event. She received an award of £5,000.00 (approximately $8,000.00).
