New York-based subscription microstock Shutterstock has surpassed 5 million images. The Web site’s inventory is now growing at the rate of 70,000 new images per week. Over 2 million images have been added since January. In a statement, the company links its continued growth to the economic downturn: “As media companies and creative firms look for ways to save money, more and more decision-makers are choosing Shutterstock to provide high-quality stock images at significant savings,” said president Adam Riggs.
