The London, U.K.-based Mary Evans Picture Library has struck a deal to exclusively represent the National Magazine Company archive. The historical image specialist will now license images from periodicals including
The Queen,
Good Housekeeping and
Harper's Bazaar, dating from 1860s to the early 1980s.
According to Tom Gillmor, head of content for Mary Evans, the National Magazine Company archive is a truly unique collection that has never been commercially marketed before now. The collection includes an eclectic range of photography, illustration and advertising material, such as images of socialites and royalty, lingerie ads, cruise liners, deco illustrations by Erté and Benigni, and the work of couture designers Hartnell, Schiaparelli and Worth.
