Saying that "CEPIC shrinks" is a misleading statement and has not dug below the surface of Sylvie Fodor's blog. The fact is that there is a huge change in the way that CEPIC is developing but this is in a very positive way as we engage in dialogue with more and more different types of visual communication companies. Anyone who attended CEPIC's annual conference in Dublin will have noted that far from "shrinking", CEPIC attendance was double on last year and delegates reported it as being one of the best congresses for years with many already booked in for 2011. I had a summer break from my CEPIC duties but watch for news from September of all the exciting developments and positive changes in what is still the leading trade umbrella for our industry in the world and will certainly not be "shrinking" under my watch! The title of this article is a gross distortion of the blog's content which actually says that Cepic's membership has GROWN.

IN 2010, CEPIC represents one additional national association in France and our affiliate membership remains extraordinarily stable with approx. 50 affiliates in 20 European countries!

The CEPIC Congress too has grown this year with representatives from 38 countries worldwide ...

Quite a success if you consider that the "picture industry" as a whole has gotten smaller, as the blog states, with many traditional agencies closing doors, as we all know.

I am surprised by this grob intrepretation of both title and content of the blog, considering that we actually acknowledge a growing interest in our organisation from countries in and outside the EU.

Shrinking depends on how you define stock industry. Cepic's law tells us that stock usage expands infinitely but the financial returns may be less. Cepic and its Congress are unique sounding boards for this international industry and this achievement enables everybody to come together to fight for fair copyright and prices, not just for the EU. However as the EU is the leader worldwide in how these matters are treated and Cepic, as well as being an NGO is a recognised EU organisation, an European Economic Interest Group(E.E.I.G), has a membership which whilst changing is also growing in recognition of the job it does and its importance. The meeting together in the agora of the tables is democracy at work, something which is very atractive to the many new agencies coming into the business.
