BBC Motion Gallery licensed 10 minutes of footage from the CBS News Archives, which BBC represents exclusively, to Universal Pictures' feature film "Charlie Wilson's War." Directed by Mike Nichols and starring Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman, the film depicts a covert operation during the former Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan. The stock footage licensed by BBC features CBS coverage of the invasion, including Dan Rather's live reports from Afghanistan.
