U.K. historical specialist Mary Evans Picture Library has re-launched its Web site with a new search engine. Completely rewritten in-house by IT director Mark Braund, the site presents changes of look, content and back end. The style is now information-driven, with a three-column layout sporting multiple image-driven stories. There is more content, including a section devoted to image themes and creative ideas for anniversaries, features and contemporary topics that can be illustrated with historical imagery. The technical infrastructure is more flexible and entirely custom. Incorporating the feedback of Mary Evans's clients, new features include one-click image downloads.
