U.K. Collective Objects to U.S. Orphan Works Proposal

U.K.'s National Union of Journalists has issued a statement opposing the proposed U.S. orphan-works legislation. According to Editorial Photographers of the United Kingdom and Ireland, NUJ views the bills as creating the perception of a free-for-all and encouraging scams and ripoffs. While the move is unlikely to have a direct effect on U.S. proceedings, similar proposals have been discussed in the U.K., and NUJ is preemptively laying the groundwork for opposition.
