In an email letter to its business partners, Amsterdam-based features and images agency The Cover Story has announced that it is moving its sales and operations office to Bangalore, India, as of Nov. 1. The letter acknowledges that some may see the move as dramatic but claims that the relocation offers new opportunities.

Specifically, the agency highlights its plans for extensive software development “to improve our site but also to offer a unique platform for exposing work, communicating effectively with the market and each other, and opening up new avenues to place stories and increase revenues.” The Cover Story has partnered with a Bangalore-based technology company to help execute this goal.

Though the move is ostensibly geared at reducing operating costs, the agency says most of its Amsterdam team will be relocating. The Cover Story also promises to hire additional staff in India and maintain an Amsterdam administrative office.

The Cover Story has been in business for over a decade. It currently represents the work of 100 photographers and 50 writers, catering to magazine publishers seeking both content and visuals.
