ClipartConnection's pricing, which starts at $4.95 per week, allows the company to tap into a vast niche market and further leverage its wholly-owned content, according to Jupitermedia CEO Alan Meckler. "The future in the image and digital content arena is value buying," he wrote in his popular blog, stressing the company's leadership of the image-subscription market segment.

Predicting market bifurcation and highest growth of lowest-priced segments, Meckler warns companies to adjust their strategies or lose out. At the same time, he points to the high competition taking place within the micro segment: "The closing of Lucky Oliver is the beginning of the end for 80% of the approximately 40 microstock sites in the stock photo world."

With ClipartConnection, Jupiterimages is aiming at what it sees as an under-served micro niche. In addition to the core creative buyer, the site is geared toward do-it-yourself marketers, students and other individuals. ClipartConnection is offering 1 million clip art images, Web graphics and illustrations through weekly, monthly and annual subscription plans.
