TheDataArchive, a London-based information-technology company, has relaunched the Web site of its wholly owned stock-licensing subsidiary,
Construction Photography. In addition to a new look, the site utilizes the latest version of the company's digital asset-management technology.
A member of the British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies, TheDataArchive works exclusively within the image industry. The company provides back-end solutions to corporations, agencies and stock libraries. Its latest product was designed and tested in consultation with a number of companies, including Friends of the Earth, the John Birdsall social-issues library, LondonStills and TheDataArchive's own built-environment stock agency.
Construction Photography is a niche library that offers creative images of the built environment to clients such as The Royal Engineers, Highways Agency and Construction News. The agency manages more than 140 photographers and processes about 1 million images.
User-interface features premiering in the new version of Construction Photography's Web site include lightbox drag-and-drop functionality, two-speed scrolling and roll-over image previews. In addition, the search has been fine-tuned with a proprietary image-weighting system, spell check and a predictive tool.
The back-end provides comprehensive sales, reporting and invoicing tools, real-time customer and photographer relationship-management features, search logs and contact database. Image-processing features include a metadata workflow, a keywording platform, watermarking and resizing tools. "I wish I had access to these features when I was working at Getty Images," said Construction Photography library manager Owen Jones.
TheDataArchive enterprise and stock-agency products are available for in-house implementation or as a fully managed Web-based service, in which the company hosts its client's library in its own high-security data center.
