Photographer Kent Baker was ordered to pay a home furnishings retailer $388,000 for bringing a lawsuit in bad faith, according to a recent report by PDN Pulse. Over a year ago, Baker filed a copyright claim when he discovered the retailer using one of Baker's images as "filler" in picture frames for sale. Despite the retailer's offer to settle, Baker and his attorney Weingrad insisted on pursuing damages of $260,000. The U.S. Court of Appeals issued sanctions against both the photographer and his attorney, ordering the latter to pay $85,000 for making unreasonable claims.
