Photographer Chi Modu, known for his work at The Source and images of famous rap and hip-hop musicians, has launched a community Web site, ephotos.com. Its goal is to offer photographers "a much-needed alternative to getting their work seen" by providing free online galleries. Modu says he is interested in giving a voice to the underserved and views other Web-gallery services as discriminating, based on ability to pay. Still, the site augments the free service with three levels of paid listings. It also takes advertising, though Modu is committed to keeping it to a minimum.
