ZUMA Press, a California-based photojournalism agency, is now representing the daily photographic production and archive of The Los Angeles Daily News.

Published by the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, the 90-year-old newspaper is the largest regional newspaper in the county. Dean Musgrove, The Los Angeles Daily News director of photography, says that a relationship with ZUMA will enable more people to see the work of photographers, such as Michael Owen Baker, David Crane, Hans Gutknecht, Andy Holzman and John McCoy. Despite the challenges facing the newspaper industry, Musgrove thinks the demand for creative photography continues to grow.

ZUMA, which is Mayan for new day, solution or new vision, remains owned and run by its founder Scott McKiernan. Mc Kiernan believes the newspaper's coverage will provide ZUMA clients added insight into L.A.

Established in the early 1990s, ZUMA employs 50 people and has offices in Dana Point, Hollywood, New York and London. The agency represents more than 1,200 photographers worldwide, over 30 picture agencies, 100 newspapers and the production and archives of 12 publishing companies. ZUMA also publishes DOUBLEtruck, a print magazine that aims to promote and inspire outstanding photojournalism.
