The Smithsonian Channel has named Thought Equity Motion as its footage-licensing partner. Thought Equity will be the exclusive agent for Smithsonian Channel’s high definition collection, which offers buyers access to clips from the channel’s original programs and series.

Such programming is drawn from the assets of the Smithsonian Institution, the world’s largest museum and research complex. Examples include original documentaries, short-subject explorations and other programs that highlight America’s historical, cultural and scientific heritage.

Thought Equity Motion founder and chief executive officer Kevin Schaff described the high-definition footage of the Smithsonian Channel Collection as “precisely the type of content producers require today.” David Royle, Smithsonian Channel’s executive vice president of programming and production, said Thought Equity has created a new revenue stream for the Smithsonian.
