Architectural and interior photographer Liz Ordonez-Dawes was awarded $12 million in a copyright infringement case involving seven images. These were used in advertising without Ordonez-Dawes' permission. Attorney Carolyn E. Wright says that such a large verdict is the result of having registered the images with the U.S. Copyright Office, as well as the defendant's failure to respond to the lawsuit, resulting in a default judgment. Additional details are available on Wright's Photo Attorney blog.
