Jacksonville, Fla.-based a21 is promoting a new line of eco-conscious art. The company says it is committed to eradicating the global carbon footprint, and the new line supports home decorators who share that commitment.

Marketed through ArtSelect.com, the eco line presents over 600 nature-inspired images as custom-framed prints, using natural and sustainable materials. All mats are made of 100% acid-free cotton and are recyclable. Frames are made from bamboo, a fast-growing renewable resources, while the packaging uses partially recycled materials. Many of the items are printed on demand, helping conserve energy and paper.

The company said this was only the first step in its commitment to the environment. “We’re looking forward to even larger strides in the future,” said ArtSelect merchandising manager Kim Counts.

The décor business appears to be shifting to a niche marketing approach: Earlier this week, a21 launched PostersEtc.com to target younger consumers and decorators.

In a separate announcement, a21 disclosed that it has discontinued negotiating with Applejack Art Partners, which stood to become a21’s majority shareholder as a result of a previously planned transaction. According to a21, Applejack would not be able to satisfy the conditions required to close the transaction.
