Corbis Appoints Barak Ronen SVP of Media Products

Corbis Images (www.corbisimages.com) has named Barak Ronen as Senior Vice President of Media Products. Ronen was formerly with Reuters and will be based in London. He will be responsible for the company’s Media product development and commercial strategy.
 
“In 2011 Corbis has focused on the transformation of its Media business to provide our customers worldwide the most compelling end-to-end Media offering in the market today,” said Gary Shenk, CEO of Corbis. “Barak is a great fit to lead this effort given his broad industry experience and expertise developing innovative products and partnerships geared toward the highly competitive Media marketplace.”
 
Most recently, Ronen served as Vice President of Business Development and Commercial Policy at Reuters where he was responsible for leading customer-focused growth strategies and creating strategic content and service partnerships for the agency.
 
“Corbis has had a tremendous year and has positioned itself for future growth in the industry. I’m thrilled to become part of its management team and look forward to utilizing my experience in the industry to leverage this opportunity, and help shape Corbis’ Media products business,” said Ronen.
 
Ronen’s appointment follows Corbis’ recent key moves to transform its Media Products business, including:
 
·         The acquisition of Splash News, the industry leader in celebrity candid content, to complement Corbis’ existing entertainment imagery and provide the most compelling and comprehensive entertainment offering in the market today
 
·         A cross-distribution partnership with The Associated Press, to provide Corbis customers access to thousands of daily breaking news, sports, and entertainment images and 5 million archival images from AP’s collection. Associated Press customers will have access to a collection of over 5 million Corbis commercial, archival and editorial images on www.ap.org.
 
·         An equity investment in Demotix, providing breaking news imagery from around the globe, via the Corbis website, through its innovative platform and network of over 5,000 freelance photographers in 190 countries
