The Natural History Museum is showcasing its award-winning imagery including its Wildlife of the Year content at fotofringe 2017 in London. NHM has chosen Capture Ltd as its partner in bringing the extraordinary collection to market.

Natural History Museum Images also includes exclusive images of the museum's specimens.

Capture delivered a turnkey solution to the museum, including a digital asset management, business and e- commerce platform that includes innovative dual-stream purchasing via both credit packs and traditional e- commerce payment methods.

Helena Jensen, Head of Commercial Intellectual Property, said: "We are delighted to see our remarkable content being made available online - and the Capture team have been great in reflecting our commercial requirements and delivering a terrific platform that we know will go from strength-to-strength."

Abbie Enock, CEO of Capture Ltd, added: "It is so rewarding to see this astonishing collection come to life - and the museum team have been terrific to work with, and in particular with regard to their business- minded approach to licensing the content."

The Capture Platform also handles finance, royalties, metadata and licensing - and for this project was integrated with other museum systems and workflows in order to maximize efficiency of effort and existing technology. Meanwhile, the Capture Managed Collections team, stepped in to provide expert keywording for the content.

The NHM team has introduced an innovative licensing option called credit packs which offers a cost- effective and user-friendly alternative to traditional e-commerce image licensing. With a credit pack a picture buyer makes just one purchase for a pack of credits which can last up to a year and be redeemed against six ready-made license options tailored to different commercial uses.

As well as saving admin and time - for both the buyer and the museum team - credit packs offer outstanding value for individual image licenses.

Capture worked closely with the museum team to develop credit packs, both as a concept - drawing on the deep knowledge of the commercial image industry within the Capture Managed Services team - and as new functionality within their Capture system. The Capture development team adapted the existing powerful licensing and royalties capability to enable credit packs to work alongside traditional e-commerce licensing which the museum continues to offer.
