iStock's Reveals Customer Profile

Getty CEO Jonathan Klein says that 80% of the iStock customers are "very small enterprises," about 10% are consumers and 10% are "bigger corporations." Since iStock has over 2 million customers, that would mean that about 200,000 are bigger corporations. The issue is not how much the little guy is being charged for small uses, but how much should be charged for bigger uses.

It is unclear what percentage of total images downloaded are being made by larger corporations.  iStock had 4.25 images downloaded in Q2 2007, 3.5 million in Q1 2007 and 3 million in Q4 2006. The bulk of iStock's business is still done by credit card.
