In a Photo District New interview entitled “Too Big To Sue” Getty Images General Counsel Yoko Miyashita and VP and General Counsel Lisa Willmer explain why Getty Images is not suing Google Inc. in the US for copyright infringement. This is a must read for everyone engaged in the image licensing business.

Getty has joined CEPIC and other organizations in European Union in filing a competition law complaint with the European Commission against Google.

The interviewees clearly outline why what could be a copyright issue needs to be fought on competition grounds.

Near the end of the interview Ms. Miyashita makes the point, “It’s not just a Getty issue, it’s impacting creatives around the world.”
