Corbis Cuts Sales Staff

Recently, Corbis announced it would be cutting 125 positions over the next several months, based on regional and local considerations. This is on top of the June announcement to eliminate 160 positions resulting from the closing down of its assignment business and the decision to sell its digital asset management division.

In early November, it was estimated that Corbis had almost 900 employees plus 170 from its recent acquisition of Veer. At first glance, it appears that Corbis may be reducing staff by about one-third, but considering the elimination of certain lines of business and the re-targeting of other efforts, the cuts may not be quite as significant. Corbis tells Selling Stock that by mid 2008, it expects to have about 800 employees with about 340 being in sales and customer service. It is believed that at its peak, Corbis had a sales and customer service staff of about 400.

The Veer staff will remain the same and not be affected in any way by these planned changes.
