LightRocket.com has announced a major value boost by offering its members up to five times more default cloud storage (100GB for premium accounts) and expanded 100GB storage units, providing members with pay-as-you-go flexibility.

LightRocket is the latest online platform to target serious enthusiast and professional photographers, offering a wide range of intuitive media tools including cloud backup, archive management, personalized websites, contact management, promotion and online sales.

LightRocket has also inked a unique partnership with industry leader Getty Images, providing an opportunity for its premium members to distribute via the world's most powerful media sales platform.

The service's founders say LightRocket's aim is to aggregate multiple value points into a single easy-to-use platform.

"Our goal is to make photographers' and visual artists' lives easier and more profitable by simplifying the process of backing up, managing, promoting and selling one's work," explained LightRocket CEO and Co-Founder Peter Charlesworth.

"If you make just one sale from LightRocket, you'll probably cover the cost of your subscription for years," he added. LightRocket charges no service fees or commission on sales generated from its platform.

Incorporated in Singapore, LightRocket was founded by a team of photographers and developers who say their first hand experience of the digital workflow helped shape a platform that is easy to navigate and offers a comprehensive range of features.

The LightRocket service soft launched in June 2013 and has since enjoyed positive feedback from a growing membership base that includes numerous leading professional photographers.

LightRocket is currently running an introductory promotion, offering an initial year of 'premium' membership for just US$ 49 or less than US$ 1 a week. New members can try the service free for 30 days.

"There are a number of online services out there where photographers are paying much more for a range of services much narrower than ours, and we're just getting started," said LightRocket co-founder Yvan Cohen.

"We're currently working on a complete upgrade of the LightRocket website builder which will transform the user experience and will further boost the already considerable value LightRocket offers," Yvan added.

LightRocket distinguishes itself from other players by its combination of photographer orientated tools and its client facing archive that is promoted to LightRocket's 6,000 strong photo editor and picture researcher client base.
