As of November 2007, photographs by British royal photographer Tim Graham will now be available exclusively through the Getty Images Hulton Archive. Getty Images has acquired the Tim Graham Photo Library, which contains over 200,000 images and spans 30 years.
The collection depicts four generations of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth II, The Prince of Wales and Princess Diana, shot by Graham in formal and informal settings. Particularly notable is the behind-the-scenes material, containing images of the royals' homes, wardrobes, pets, cars, friends and household members.
Graham's work has been published extensively, appearing in major magazines, newspapers and on television, as well as a number of books, posters, commemorative items, stamps and calendars. Several of the photographers' own books of royal photographs have been international bestsellers.
Looking to the future, Graham says he is aware of the historical significance of his image archive and wants to ensure its continued publication. He views Getty as the ideal new home for the images, citing the company's "principled approach to news and editorial photography."
Graham himself will become a Getty Images consultant and contributing photographer, and will continue to cover the Windsors. His new work will be added to the collection. The first 25,000 digitized images from it will be sold through Getty's online editorial offering.
