The Getty-owned microstock has launched its much-anticipated audio business this week. Separately, iStock announced a partnership with software-as-service provider MuseWorx, which hopes to capitalize on the cost-effectiveness of its online offering during a downturn.
iStock's audio offering launched on Wednesday with nearly 10,000 tracks, ranging from heavy metal, ballad rock and jazz to samples, loops and sound effects. Varying from 5 seconds to 4 minutes in length, audio files are priced between 2 and 25 credits, depending on their complexity. Offered as royalty-free content, iStock's audio includes public performance, synchronization and mechanical licenses. Additional features will be announced next month.
The company also announced a partnership with software-as-service provider MuseWorx, which targets businesses, creatives and marketing professionals. The MuseWorx online platform hopes to helps iStock customers manage their projects. The platform offers a suite of applications and bills itself as “a highly affordable solution that integrates best-of-breed automation tools, resource partners and a collaboration and digital asset management system capable of handling unlimited data, rich media files and users.” Financial arrangements have not been disclosed.
