Shutterstock Accepts 4,000,000-millionth Image

The New York-based subscription leader announced that it has surpassed 4,000,000 images. The milestone image of a historic Route 66 drive-in was submitted by Rodney Hobart, a Missouri photographer, designer and illustrator. Shutterstock founder and CEO John Oringer said the inventory is growing at the rate of 40,000 images per week, with over 1.2 million images added in 2008. The company was established in 2003 and expanded into stock footage in 2006.
