The Image Works Celebrates 25 Years

The Image Works, an editorial stock agency located in the historic New York state town of Woodstock, is celebrating 25 years in business. The agency currently represents some 35 million images, with 1 million of these available online. It has also just added four new collections, including Germany’s AKG Images, Photo 12 of France and imagery from Australia’s Auscape Natural History Archive and the British Museum of Natural History. The Image Works intends to “stay true to its core values by remaining completely independent of the forces exerted by the industry giants attempting to control the market.”

Congratulations for all of you at The Image Works. Well done Mark. It is great to hear that you will remain independent for other 25 years! We support that, and we believe it is important for medium size companies to adapt to the enormous changes and to develop our challenging visual profession, now that all accountants and bankers will be in prison, it is good to remain faithful to what we know how to do.

Congratulations Mark. I've been with IW for over 20 of those 25 years, and I'm having my 2nd biggest year in sales with you. Good stewardship, and congratulations on staying fiercely independent. I do also remember well your co-founder Alan and miss him much. I know that he suffered a bad accident, skiing I believe, but he too is doing better all the time. We miss Alan very much. But thanks to both of you for Founding and Maintaing Image Works over a 1/4 a century. It's a value to photographers and the publishers who license images from you. Regards, Joseph Sohm
