U.K. travel library Robert Harding World Imagery says its recent Web site upgrade has led to a client-uptake increase of more than 70%. The upgrade included offering registered and pre-approved buyers to download high-resolution files in two clicks.
The feature targets the editorial market segment. Buyers are allowed to download unlimited image quantities from Harding’s 500,000-image collection and then receive a phone call within 48 hours to confirm image use. According to the company, this new feature is akin to a subscription offering that allows numerous image downloads per month, with one difference: “the customer pays for what he uses, not for what he thinks he might use.”
Founder Robert Harding said: “Before launching this feature, our customers had to pass through a number of stages before the image landed on their desktop and after many weeks of research speaking with every client, we discovered that by facilitating this part of the customer experience we could ensure our customers keep on returning to the site.” He added that the primary objective of the new delivery vehicle was client acquisition and retention.
