BBC´s legendary footage collection and Ricall's unparalleled online music library combine to offer total audio-visual creative solution. The companies will cross-promote each other's product lines.
Ricall's library will be made available to BBC Motion Gallery users. Ricall's inventory contains 4 million tracks, including all of the U.K.'s top 40 and the U.S.' top 100, as well as independent music. BBC's archive, which contains more than 500,000 hours of footage, will be similarly accessible to Ricall's users.
Both companies say the goal of this partnership is to offer a complete package to creatives, making it easier to source footage and music together. Initially, the partnership will consist of reciprocal links and customer promotion, with a view to establishing closer links between the two platforms in future.
The surprise in this deal is the pairing of a giant with a relatively young company: Ricall was established in 1998. But Paul Maidment, BBC Motion Gallery's director of business development, said "Ricall's massive online library of music has both the historical breadth and depth of material to match that of BBC Motion Gallery."
