LA-based FootageBank HD has launched of a new royalty-free division, footagehead.com, to focus on licensing motion content for online and mobile uses. Company founder and president Paula Lumbard predicts rising need in these media segments.
The 20-year veteran of motion-content licensing and former special-effects producer for major motion pictures, Lumbard founded her first footage company, the Film Bank, in 1985. In 2002, she anticipated the coming demand for high-definition content and founded FootageBank HD, which remains the only stock outfit that specializes in native high-def video.
Now, Lumbard says there is an emerging—and global—need for affordable, Web-accessible HD content to be used by those creading podcasts, Webisodes and multimedia for the mobile space. Footagehead.com aims to capitalize on that need with over 10,000 clips shot within the last year. All are native codecs, uncompressed, wide-screen and instantly downloadable. The company also says the price point is lower than that of other competitors offering royalty-free HD content.
