In April,
Getty Images became the authorized photo agency for the Fédération Internationale de Football Association. Now, the Seattle company has announced an agreement to provide media coverage for Sony Corp. during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, capturing Sony’s sponsored events in South Africa. Sony will use Getty’s distribution service for media, image.net, to supply images to the press. Image.net is a service with over 85,000 media contacts that can store, manage and distribute digital contents, including still images, video and audio, over the Internet. Getty also offers
archival World Cup imagery dating from the first ever World Cup in 1930 to the last tournament in Germany in 2006.
