Footage boutique Global ImageWorks has struck a deal with Direct Holdings America/Time Life to represent the motion content of Soul Train, which currently holds the record for the longest first-run nationally syndicated U.S. TV show.
The exclusive deal involves over 1,100 weekly episodes, as well as 35 years worth of award shows and all specials. In addition to critical acclaim for its cultural impact, Soul Train has hosted performances by musical greats such as Aretha Franklin and James Brown, as well as numerous pop music and entertainment stars.
Highlights are available at the Global ImageWorks Web site; the entire collection is being digitized and will soon be available for online searching. DHI will also produce and market DVD products under the Time Life brand.
