Together with the Guardian, Getty Images-owned iStockphoto is sponsoring Britain iS—a competition that captures Britain in 2010. Photo categories range from best urban image to “good stock,” as in best suited to stock imagery.
Each category winner receives a cash prize of £500, and the best-in-competition prize is worth £1500. The contest is open to amateurs and professionals alike. There are no entry fees.
According to the press materials, Britain iS “”celebrates the British zeitgeist – capturing edgy urban scenes, green and pleasant landscapes, enduring traditions and popular events, singular moments, and the dizzying mix of faces and cultures which together help define the continuously evolving concept of Britishness.”
The competition runs for six weeks from Thursday, through March 11. Entrants will be juried by a panel of experts that will include independent experts and iStock director of photography Simon Moran, as well as the microstock’s chief executive officer Kelly Thompson.
