ITN Source has announced an archive footage deal with Shanghai Media Group, China’s largest commercial broadcaster. This follows an earlier agreement with China’s largest foreign education publisher Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press.
The company says the deals solidify its position in the Chinese market. The latest agreement, brokered by Anglo-Chinese media company IPCN, will see ITN Source supply footage to the documentary films production unit of Shanghai Media Group. The first set of projects will tap into a footage library that includes coverage of the Chinese-Japanese war, the former Portuguese colony Macao and lifestyle content, such as Chinese dress fashions in the twenties.
The agreement builds on a previous relationship between ITN and Shanghai Media, with the two producing a daily primetime television program for China’s largest English-speaking channel. According to ITN Source sales director Neil Meadows, international revenue growth is key to the company’s success.
