Photolibrary will now exclusively market Medicimage content in the United Kingdom, in addition to non-exclusive representation of the British medical specialist in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and the United States.
Founded in 2006, the Medicimage library currently consist of over 100,000 images and on-location, broadcast-quality footage of hospitals, clinics, laboratories and operating rooms. The collection represents a £500,000 investment over a three-year period, according to company founder David Davis.
Subject matter ranges from alternative medicine and hypnotism to beauty, dentistry, dermatology and countless other medical specialties and settings. Medicimage also offers lifestyle content that covers drug addiction, alcoholism, sexuality and psychiatric health. The collection will be regularly expanded, according to Davis.
Photolibrary’s U.K. subsidiary, Oxford Scientific, will be handling this business. Medicimage is also pursuing expansion in Asia, Europe and South America. Its charity arm, The Medicimage Foundation, supports medical education and research in developing countries.
