The Picture Archive Council of America has announced a conference program that emphasizes emerging technologies and survival in the current economic conditions. The 14th annual event will be held in Miami in mid-October, and early-bird registration discounts end on August 15.
PACA’s position is that online and digital platforms play a big role not only in surviving the downturn, but also in thriving as the economy recovers. This year’s featured conference events focus on social media, search and motion technologies.
Brian Solis, the principal of award-winning public relations and new media agency FutureWorks, will be leading the Social Media session. PACA will also present a panel on Web 3.0 Semantic Search, which it feels can revolutionize how images are matched to buyers online, and a motion workshop, where conference participants can learn the basics of shooting footage by observing a production shoot and attending a best-practices session.
This year’s conference will also include the usual PACA assortment of events and marketing opportunities. Legal council Nancy Wolff will discuss the latest copyright legislation and answer attendees’ questions. Multiple sponsorship opportunities and marketing hub tables are currently open.
