The Picture Archive Council of America has joined CEPIC and other industry organizations in opposition to the proposed Google Settlement. U.S. industry bodies opposing the settlement include the American Society of Media Photographers, the Graphic Artists Guild and the North American Nature Photography Association. All have filed documents in opposition to the agreement reached by Google, Authors Guild and the Association of American Publishers. PACA concurs with sentiments expressed by CEPIC and others, asserting that photographer and picture-agency interests were excluded from the negotiating process and the proposed $125 million settlement. According to PACA president Maria Kessler, "Our member community has copyright interests that also need to be protected and addressed by the settlement, and we need to raise our voice as it is not currently there." ASMP is taking the lead in the filing.
