PhotoShelter Adds Ecommerce Features, Integrates Latest FotoQuote

PhotoShelter has updated its Web site code base to offer “better reliability and easier extensibility,” says chief executive officer Allen Murabayashi. The company has also introduced several frequently requested features into its online photo-archive product favored by independent photographers and stock agencies.

New features include new print vendors AdoramaPix and ExposureManager, FotoQuote 6 integration, easier sales configuration and tax handling, all of which simplify doing business through PhotoShelter’s personal archive. PhotoShelter promises additional functionality in early 2010.

Most notable—both as part of PhotoShelter’s upgrade and in its own right—is the integration of FotoQuote Pro 6. Released earlier this year, this upgrade is the biggest in nearly 20 years, according to the man behind it, Cradoc Bagshaw of Cradoc Software. Version 6, already the standard of the independent stock photographer, has added 86 new categories and now includes still and video stock categories, assignment pricing and a host of other new features.

The new video-related information is particularly useful in a market increasingly moving toward motion imagery. According to Bagshaw, FotoQuote now includes information on how to get started transitioning from a stills-only business to video. The software provides tools such as a video pre-production worksheet and integrates new topics on breaking into the video market into its coaching feature.

Photoshelter seems to be the best resource for independent stock photographers these days.
