Actress Uma Thurman and French cosmetics giant Lancôme are facing off over use of Thurman's photos in advertising.
The Associated Press reports that Thurman filed a lawsuit, seeking $15 million in damages, alleging that Lancôme helped retailers use Thurman's likeness after her two-year contract with the company expired. Acting on Thurman's earlier threat, Lancôme had filed a previous, preemptive countersuit. The company's defense: It cannot be held liable for third-party actions, which Lancôme says is a circumstance covered by the original contract.
