In line with the recent trend among large microstocks, Veer has announced a freely available plugin that enables users of Microsoft products to search for and buy Veer images from within Word and PowerPoint documents.
The Veer Add-In for Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010 adds a Veer Images tab along the Word and PowerPoint application ribbons. It supports transactions in U.S. and Canadian dollars, Euros, and British Pounds.
It also has some unusual features as compared to its predecessors. For example, Veer allows the buyer to edit images before purchasing them to ensure they fit the visual needs, and retain the edits during the purchase process. The add-in also facilitates automatic replacement of the watermarked in-document image version with an unmarked purchased image—in addition to drag-and-drop, registration, credit purchase and password reminder functionality within Office.
Veer has also introduced a selection of free images to Office.com, the online home of Microsoft applications. These low-resolution images can be downloaded from the Images section of Office.com but require click-through to Veer and purchase for higher quality versions.
Veer senior director of creative content Aaron Booth said the company sees the new tools as a way to introduce its brand and products to a broad audience of everyday Office users.
