Many of my readers know that Stockbyte is now the fourth largest supplier of royalty free images in the world, and that it is owned and operated by Jerry Kennelly. But how did the company get to where it is today. Recently Ian Kehoe of The Sunday Business Post Online, Ireland's financial, political and economic newspaper, interviewed Kennelly and provided a detailed look at how Jerry got his start and ended up focusing on producing and selling royalty free imagery.

Jupitermedia To Redeploy Assets To Image Division

Jupitermedia Corp. has agreed to sell its Search Engine Strategies trade shows and its ClickZ.com Network of web sites, for $43 million in cash to Incisive Media plc of London in order to redeploy assets to its JupiterImages. Also announced was Q2 2005 revenues of $33.8 million up from $17.8 million and an 89% increase from the same period in 2004.

Getty Images has reported revenue for Q2 of 2005 of $185.3 million compared to $150.3 million for Q1 of 2004. Operating income for the second quarter of 2005 grew 39.3 percent to $55.5 million, or 30 percent of revenue, compared to $39.8 million, or 26.5 percent of revenue in the same quarter last year.

JupiterImages To Acquire PictureArts

Jupitermedia Corporation has announced a definitive agreement to acquire PictureArts Corporation for approximately $63.2 million in cash, subject to certain post-closing adjustments. The acquistion includes PictureArts' quality brands: Brand X Pictures, FoodPix, Botanica and Nonstock, as well as its image distribution business. The transaction is expected to close during the third quarter of 2005.

On May 13th Jupitermedia announced to its shareholders that Getty Images had terminated its distributor agreements with Jupitermedia. Through its Creatas and PictureQuest divisions Jupiter had been representing Getty's PhotoDisc and Digital Vision RF brands and Getty on its www.gettyimages.com site had been representing Jupiter's Comstock and Thinkstock brands.
