Jerry Tavin’s IC Worldwide agency closed down operations on July 31. With the approval of the photographers and collections that IC Worldwide represented, most of the approximately 10,000 images have been moved to Glasshouse Images. Tavin will continue to be involved with Glasshouse.
In October 2008, Tavin and French agency PhotoAlto announced a partnership to launch IC Worldwide, a rights-managed image collection with a focus on unique cutting-edge imagery. However, at the CEPIC conference in Germany in June of this year, PhotoAlto decided that they wanted to manage their expected contributions to the collection separately and chose not to participate in IC Worldwide.
Meanwhile, a German optical company with the name IC had challenged the photo company’s right to use the same name. Rather than engage in a costly legal battle, Tavin choose to cease using the name, move all the imagery to the Glasshouse Images and continue to expand the collection there.
