The Picture Archive Council of America (
PACA), American Society of Media Photographers (
ASMP) and the Copyright Clearance Center (
CCC) are jointly exploring the development of a new, global, collective licensing model for unlicensed web usages. PACA expects this model to have a transformative impact on the industry for all licensors of visual media.
It should be noted that Getty Images recently announced its
ImageIRC Post-Usage-Billing Service which proposes to deal with the same unlicensed web usage problem. It will be important to understand how these two strategies differ and whether they complement one another, or compete.
Details of how the PACA/ASMP/CCC model will work will be presented and discussed at the PACA 17th International Conference to be held at the Marriott Downtown hotel in Chicago on October 19-21, 2012. For information about the conference and registration go

Also presented at the conference will be a report from PACA’s Strategic Planning Committee which has been charged with steering the future of the organization. The committee will outline changes in the organization’s structure and the Annual International Conference.
