Panther Media has introduced a new approach to Rights Managed licensing and is opening the door to some really special photography.
“We always had a clear position on the subject of rights managed licensing”, says Tomas Speight, CEO of Panther Media GmbH, “we would only ever do it if we could make it so easy it doesn’t need explaining”. And, quietly, in December 2016, they went ahead and did it.
After considering various options for simplifying the licensing rules for RM they decided that it would have to be exactly as easy as RF. Rather than base the offering on file size they decided that there should be five choices based on time. In addition, extended licenses are available. The times are: 6 months, 12 months, 2 years, 3 years or 5 years. The prices for these periods of time range from $429 to $1,430. These prices entitle the customer to make unlimited use of the image in a single country.
If the image is to be used in multiple countries there are three additional options -- up to 5 countries (+$110), 1 continent (+$220), worldwide (“$330). The file size delivered is always XXL. Customers may do whatever they want with the picture for one client for the period of time they purchased.
This puts PantherMedia in the fortunate position to be able to launch a number of new, truly fine photography collections that have previously been unavailable at
PantherMedia.net. Originally beginning with Cultura RM in December 2016, Robert Harding RM and Westend61 RM have now joined the line up with more to follow soon.
