Top Suppliers To Getty Images

It was recently called to my attention that EyeEm has 3,494,298 images in the Getty Images collection. Add to that the 2,755,731 in the Moment collection (from Flickr photographers) and these two collections represent 29% of the combined RM and RF collections currently on Gettyimages.com, and 41% of the RF collection alone.

I thought it might be interesting to take a look at the current number of images each brand has at Getty.

There are 21,019, 386 images in Getty’s Creative collection at the present time. Of these images 6,468.919 (30%) are RM and 14,550,467 (70%) are RF. The percentage of RF has been growing steadily over the last few years. Getty has made RF the default search of the Creative collection, is encouraging RM suppliers to convert their images to RF, and through Premium Access is licensing many of the RM images at exactly the same prices as RF.



In its Creative Collection Getty has 111 RM brands and 119 RF brands. Sixteen of the RM brands and 16 of the RF are wholly owned by Getty. In these cases, they pay royalties to image creators directly. These brands have combined image totals of 3,380,320 RM (52% of the total) and 7,809,145 RF (53% of the total.) Thus, a little under 50% of the images have been supplied by other stock agencies or production companies.

Below, I have listed in separate columns the RM and RF agencies and the number of images each has in the collection. Thirty-one of the listed brands have images in both the RM and RF collections. The brands that are wholly owned by Getty have an X in the column by their number.
