The first thing everyone wants to know about microstock is how much the average person earns licensing images at those prices. This story provides some statistics. Very few photographers will be at the top 25 in the world in RM or in Microstock. That is a fact. You know that before you ever start all your charts and tables. There are many part-timers and that is fine. Only a few in both RM and Micro will dedicate themselves to doing it RIGHT!

I am at the top of the RM chain.... I would match my total dollars with any one (including Yuri & Lise) in the top 25 of Microstock.

The difference ---- I make the same income bottom line (with less downloads) but I feel a lot better selling many images per years for thousands of $$ each (and thousands more at several hundred each) than I would if I knew people were so EXCITED about my photography that they were willing to spend (Gulp!) a whole $6 for an image in a magazine. No thanks to that for me. I did not get in this business to sell images for a dollar!
